Write on the staff as you would on paper. Pause and the ink turns into notation. The pitch comes from where the notehead sits.
Notes: a scribbled (black) or open head plus a stem. Flags for eighths and sixteenths, or draw a line across the stem tips to beam them.
Chord: write another head on an existing stem.
Accidentals: write ♯ ♭ ♮ just left of the head, before or after the note.
Dot to the right: dotted note. Dot above or below: staccato.
Rests. A block hanging from the 4th line is a whole (bar) rest, one sitting on the middle line is a half rest.
⌒
Arc from head to head: a tie (same pitch) or slur. Slurred notes play joined up. Tap a slurred note and press ⌒↕ to flip the slur.
Articulations: a small mark just above or below a note. > accent, – tenuto, ^ marcato, a short | staccatissimo, an arch with a dot a fermata. Scribble over one to remove just the mark.
Clefs and time signatures: write them at the start of a bar.
Tuplets: write a 3 (or 6) above or below the notes; they must add up to three equal parts (three eighths, quarter + eighth…). Or tap a note and press .
Dynamics: write pp p mp mf f ff sfz fp under a note, outside the staff.
< >
Hairpins: a < or > under the notes, in one stroke or two lines. They shape playback toward the next dynamic.
scribble
Scribble over symbols to erase them, or over unrecognised ink to cancel it. The stylus eraser end works too.
tap
Tap a notehead to hear and edit it; drag it up or down to change pitch.
select
In Select, drag across notes with the pen or mouse to select them like text (with a finger: hold, then drag; Shift+click or Shift ←→ extends). Play then plays just the selection, ⟳ Loop repeats it. + Clip keeps it as a marker you can repeat (×n), shift by octaves, delay and layer with the clip before it (⧉); ⤳ Jump adds a jump from the end of the selection to a note you tap. With markers, Play plays the arrangement: the score taking its jumps, or the clips in order.
wrong?
After each symbol the alternatives pop up. Tap the right one: it fixes this symbol and learns your handwriting.
Ledger lines and barlines are drawn for you. Bars grow as you write; an overfull bar turns red. Keys: Ctrl Z undo, Space play, ↑↓ move a selected note, 1–6 duration, . dot, Del delete.
